Drone Simulator For iOS & Android Video

hey folks JD and because the weather's been so bad this weekend I haven't been able to get out on flight we've had high winds very high winds lots of rain and intermittent rain as well it's just downpours like 10 minutes call for now and nothing for five minutes and then downpour again so the quads that had lined up for for this week next week or whatever else I mean I'm able to get out and fly yet so I got to think I thought to myself well in this case what I'd usually do last year is I'd crack out a new nano quano quadcopter I like good upstairs I fly it downstairs and I thought well before we do that let's try and think a little bit differently and let's try and see whether there's an alternative to do with that so I've been looking for RC simulators so things like quadcopter simulators helicopter simulators cars planes you know something that doesn't require you to bring your laptop down or your your transmitted because I know a lot of lot of larger transmitters like my fly skies you can plug them up to your to your computer you can then download a proper like drone racing simulator full graphics have a first person view and fly around as as crazy and as fast as you want to go through gates and everything else so I thought what about if we were to do it sort of on a phone instead or on a tablet or whatever whether it be iOS or Android and then see whether or not actually that kind of fills the void of being able to fly you're been able to race or something like that when you can't because let's face it we have these portable devices in our pockets pretty much all the time it's not something that I would have looked to do but it is something that I've often thought about so what I'm gonna do is this week I'm gonna go through maybe four or five of my favorite ones that I've tried now me the ones I've just got at random I've gone down looked at the reviews on on iOS and Android and quite literally just click download that's it I haven't put any more thought into it other than that so we're gonna see exactly what these are I'm gonna go through them and see how the controls react to see how the quad copters if they feel as if they fly or if they feel as if they're floating or if they feel as if it's is if it's to graphically accelerated and then we're gonna just look at it a little bit and see exactly how we how we are we break it apart and see if there's a good one if there's a bad one and sort of what my best ones are towards the end of the weekend so starting off let's kick this off with drone simulator so into the game is to collect credits by just playing the game and then once you have collected enough credits you can unlock other quadcopters in different categories like you have some phantom esque ones you have some AR Drone esque ones you have some Racing quads you have some Nano quads and Tiger quads or videography quads and then you can use them in different Maps like park industrial and places like that you can just have as much fun as possible now there is one thing to say about this when you have select your core when you have selected your place to fly and when you are starting off to fly one thing you will notice about this and it's something that becomes apparent really really early on is just how slow this quadcopter is now to begin with the only quad that you're allowed to fly it which is unlocked is the cheerson cx-10 now if anybody has flown that I flew that years ago if you go back about three years on the channel you'll find it or just search for it then you will know that that quad is a bit nippy but it's not the fastest now one thing about this is and what I think is going to pull off a lot of people from the word go is just how long it takes for you to get from flying to a gate as you can see here in this footage it's taken quite a while it doesn't zoom people expect it to be fast the controls are pretty bang on I don't know whether there have been a couple of updates but it certainly seems a bit better from when I first played this game I have put quite a few hours into this game I've got about tere think it's eight or ten credits so far unlocked in this game now when you finally do reach a gate see it's very slow to just move around but then again for the type of code that you are flying if you have flown a cheerson cx-10 you'll know it's pretty bang on I think it's pretty representative of that quad that you are actually flying I haven't flown another type in here yet I haven't unlocked another one yet so I can't really say whether that is quicker at the time of me making this video now graphics graphics don't make a game it's important for you to remember that a game is the way that I think about games whether I'm playing on my PC whether I'm playing on Steam you play or whatever I always think a game is about its story the graph are just a fundamental part of that game but it's all about the story driven narrative now the narrative in this game is quite simple get your quadcopter through the gates that's it within if I think it's four and a half minutes or five minutes when you first start off as many gates score as many points those points I think then equate to credits and that's it now when you are if you do want to zoom in on a tree you can just hover it Harvie record by a tree you can see the graphics are pretty good the draw distance lets it down though I think and the draw distance is exactly how far you can see how much of the game it draws in the distance now as you can see the mountains are moving even in first-person mode like this the mountains are moving quite a lot so your your draw distance isn't that far but considering this game is made from multiple platforms Android iOS and pretty much every single phone go in you can't have a game which is all which is all graphically intensive but I would have thought that the developer would have used some dynamic draw distance so the more power your your device has the more of a draw draw distance it's it it then creates it renders now that being said again that's just a small little niggle to be fair I I do like this game I think it's pretty fun if you're all waiting full say your wife to come out of shopping or something like that this is where I've played it and pretty much I've had a whale of a time I haven't had I haven't had any sort of real negative issue to the game it's not crashed it's not blue screened or anything like that it has just all of a sudden just made me think that the game is quite slow but then to be fair that's you know you're gonna get that from any game when you first start off because you're not gonna start off and have the best quadcopter going when you first start off playing a game you're gonna have a quadcopter which is quite mediocre which you've got to work out quite a lot in order to unlock other ones to progress to make the game better and to make everything a lot faster a bit more fluid so quite honestly I think if you want to get into a game which is free if you want to get into a game which is pretty fun if you want to have a game which is well not 100% accurate but pretty representative of flying a quadcopter especially the cheerson cx-10 I actually think this game flies better than chess and 6-10 ever did then this game could be for you I say as it's free it's a premium model so it's not a hun percent free but you haven't got to spend anything to again you can just keep playing and apart from the overall time limit the five-minute time limit per map that's all I found I can keep on playing this as much as I want it's not as if you've got to play five times and then wait for your credits to talk to fill it back up before you can play more you can just play your heart you can just play over and over and over and over and over again you haven't got to wait for anything to sort of unlock after a certain lock period which again in this world of premium gaming I'm I quite like that I like the fact that you can just keep on playing you know once if you get addicted to it you can fulfill your addiction by just keep it on playing so I think this that I think this is still active I haven't found anybody any anything looking at iOS and Android to say that the developer is not still developing this so I hope that they are I hope they below add a bit more into it honestly I think it's a great game I think it is well no I'm not gonna go that far I think it's a good game I think it's a fun game albeit when you first start off don't be expecting a lot it does get slow but the more that you progress I have no doubt in my mind looking at the different chords available in the start of this app you can progress quite quickly and get the a faster quad so you can have a bit more fun with it all right my friend thanks ever so much for watching listening I beam JD you've been fantastic as always if you haven't read ep's like and subscribe and ring that bell – hello and welcome to all the new subscribers i hope you enjoying the channel so until next time my friends happy flying

With all the bad weather we have had over the weekend i was thinking about other RC related things that could be done when flying indoors and outdoors is out of the question. So i decided to look at the portable option for RC simulators as hooking your flysky or alternative transmitter up to your laptop is not always possible. This video is all about the iOS and Android games called Drone Simulator, i play it for a while and see what it’s like.

I never even knew games like this existed JD so thanks for bringing that to my attention, although I don't think these are for me. Like you say graphics aren't everything which is why I'll still fire up the Spectrum emulator and load up Manic Miner or Space Invaders from time to time!

Hi jd, tell me about it bud it's been raining and thunder storms and crazy winds here now for about 5 days it's driving me crazy, I really want to get out, blooming winter will be here soon lol..
hmm interesting videos mate I might check some out if I see a good one but to be honest all of the drone simulators I've tried so far I just can't get on with for me they just don't feel right I don't get the drone flying feel or experience from them at all, being a gamer as well I thought I would find at least one I would like over the years but have not, I kinda liked the propel star wars one doing the missions but only for a few hours then that was enough, Tell you what I do LOVE though GT sport with my logitech g29 steering wheel and pedals a gear stick with driving rig, if the weather don't get any better soon I'm going to crack that out that's for sure lol.. Have a good week mate ๐Ÿ‘

I been using this to teach my brother how to fly drones. It's helped a lot and translates the basic of drone flight pretty well. My brother with a lot of pratice can now keep a real drone in check. My knee caps are finally safe ๐Ÿ™‚ Great informative content as always. I am in England and been grounded that past couple of weeks too ๐Ÿ™

Very cool JD . I'll have to look into one of these apps . Besides I think my wife would appreciate not being a target for my indoor quads ! : )

I had a go with a couple of simulators on my phone before buying my quad. I could not get use to them as needed sticks to feel to help me more, so could not get on with them. By the way couple more questions my friend. Do you prefer folding quads to normal as wanting to save for a second quad as been bitten by the quad bug LOL!!!! and the Bugs 4 looks good with two batteries as each has about 20mins flight? Also, do you think it is easier to fly FPV with goggles rather than looking at a screen on transmitter? Thanks as always my friend ;o))))
